The silence settles heavy

on the damp cobblestones.

I want to wipe you away

like a smudged fingerprint

on the glass window of the train.

Us ladies

stand tall on the horizon.

Broad shouldered,

all tied up

all tied down,

just like all the ones before,

just like the ones ahead.

I wish you’d fade away

like sunrise stars

and join the moon

half a world

away from me.

Your still there though

out of reach.
